RESHAPING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS FOR SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR
The sustainable construction has become a common sense in the construction industry in China. However, the drawbacks of the conventional construction process have been identified, which have become one of the most important internal barriers to implement the sustainable construction, especially in the public sector. In this paper, a conceptual model has been advocated to reshape the conventional construction process for radical sustainable construction in the public sector. In this model, the effective method, which combines the Lean Construction and Construction Process Re-engineering, can provide a powerful tool to convert the current construction process to a new one, which can lubricate the sustainable construction practices in the public sector.
