THE RESEARCH METHODS OF CRITICAL CHAIN BASED ON THE EARNED VALUE

The Critical Chain technology made by Israels physicist Goldratt is a milestone after CPM /PERT project management techniques. Earned Value Method (EVM) is a key metrics to control the project schedule and cost. However, the traditional EVM is based on CPM /PERT. Because there is no consideration of resource conflict in EVM, it results in disadvantages, such as delay of progress and high costs. This paper briefly describes the basic concepts and principles of the Critical Chain and EVM. Then combined with examples, make comparative analysis on EVM respectively based on CPM /PERT and Critical Chain. At last, point out the lack of the former one and bring forward a further researching direction of the latter one
