THE FEASIBILITY STUDY ON DATA ENVELOPMENT ANALYSIS MODEL FOR PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT IN MANUFACTURING BASED ON VALUE ENGINEERING

At present, many performance measurements have taken account of the integrity of the system, and overcome the limitations of traditional financial measurements. However, the problems such as operational complexity and high cost are brought about as a result. This paper introduces the method of Value Engineering (VE) to the feasibility study of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model for performance measurement in manufacturing by integrating the function and cost. We summarize the main features of the method through the case study of the application of DEA in the traditional field. Then, we elaborate the feasibility of DEA in various management levels of manufacturing by comparing the characteristics of DEA with other manufacturing evaluation methods. In the end, a relatively comprehensive implementation system to direct the promotion and the implementation of DEA in manufacturing is proposed.
