KANSEI ENGINEERING DESIGN OF COMPREHENSIVE BALL PEN BASED ON ROUGH SET ANALYSIS

This paper proposes a rough set based method for extracting Kansei decision rules which we can use to examine design candidates satisfying customers kansei or wants in Kansei Engineering (KE). The interactions and ambiguity are pervasive features of kansei. In this respect, by using rough set method, we will obtain more significant information on the interactive relations between customer wants and kansei words, product design attributes and kansei, and so on. We applied the proposed method to ball pen design. Kansei evaluation experiment executed in which 24 female students evaluated 27 different ball pens in terms of 40 kansei SD measurements including customers want, attractive. By using the proposed hierarchical rough set method, we identified customers wants as well as developmental concepts and design attributes to actualize customers wants. As a result, we found out different attractive design attributes using three different decision rule evaluation measures.
