DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR CHEMICAL PROCESS USING VIRTUAL REALITY

Recently, the chemical plants scale/size has become large and performed complicated processes. It is difficult for new operators to operate the chemical plants safely based on their knowledge. therefore, the operators education and training are absolutely necessary for the prevention of the operation mistake. In chemical plants, the material flows in the equipment and piping. So there are difficulties in imaging the changes in the process easily because operators cannot see flowing quantity, the temperature changes, and the flow of a process. The purpose of this paper is to develop of an education support system. This system interlocks the changes of the process value calculated by directed graph with the colour variation of the plant model in the environment. The directed graph is a graph not only express how to be connected using a point and a line, but expresses the connected directions. As a result, this system enables the internal behaviour in the plant to be showed visually and intuitively plainly, and it is a useful system for the operators process study.
