STUDY ON SIMULATION MODELING BASED ON ARENA FOR A CNC WORKSHOP OF A MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISE
On-time delivery is a kind of strategy for manufacturing enterprises to improve customers satisfaction and corporate reputation. However, it usually requires a highly elaborated manufacturing plan and control strategy to meet such a demand. In order to solve the above problems, a discrete event simulation model is established with Arena software. The processes of four key parts are investigated with the model. Optimal batch sizing for the four parts are studied based upon simulation running and a satisfying combination is achieved under the objective of on-time delivery. Subject to on-time delivery, another objective is considered which maximizes the consecutive idle interval on the machines in order to leave enough space for possible urgent jobs arriving unexpectedly. This is quite essential for a robust schedule which requires only slight modification against the uncertain perturbations.
