CHITOSAN HYDROGELS WITH 3D LIESEGANG RING STRUCTURE FOR RIFAMPICIN RELEASE
Polymer hydrogels with patterned structures are desirable for tissue engineering scaffolds or drug delivery carriers. Based on alternate soaking reaction diffusion, chitosan hydrogels with a 3D Liesegang ring (LR) structure were constructed without external crosslinking reagents. The alternate soaking process regulated the periodic fluctuation of the OH-concentration. The features of the LR structure were consistent with the time law and spacing law of LR phenomena. Release behavior of rifampicin was dominated by drug diffusion kinetics and chitosan relaxation.
