A NOVEL DUAL STIMULI-RESPONSIVE DRUG CARRIER BIOMATERIAL BASED ON BSA/PVP POLYMERS
A novel drug carrier with dual response to temperature and pH, based on bovine serum albumin and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone), was synthesized via in-situ polymerization and subsequent self-assembly in aqueous solution. Its structure and morphology were characterized by FT-IR, TEM, DLS and UV-Vis spectra. The size of the microspheres was about 200 -400 nm. The microspheres had a core-shell structure and carried a negative charge in aqueous solution. Their response to temperature and pH was investigated. The carriers showed a continuous release of entrapped doxorubicin hydrochloride over approximately 50 h. The results of data fitting showed that the drug release behavior agreed with the Higuchi equation.
