BIOCOMPATIBLE HYDROGELS BASED ON CHITOSAN AND POLY(P-DIOXANONE)

The tri-block copolymer (PPDOEG) of poly(p-dioxanone) and poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) with the aldehyde terminal group (PPDOEG-CHO) was synthesized by the oxidization of PPDOEG in the presence of acetic anhydride. The chitosan-based hydrogels were prepared by using PPDOEG-CHO as a macromolecular crosslinker. The obtained hydrogels were used as Ibuprofen carrier. It was found that the release of Ibuprofen from the hydrogels was sustained for 50 h. The cytotoxicity results revealed that these hydrogels had good biocompatibility with L929 cells.
