LIGHT AND ELECTRON MICROSCOPY CHARACTERIZATION OF A COLLAGEN-LIPOSOMES-ENTRAPPED CHONDROITIN SULPHATE COMPOSITE AS INTRA-ARTICULAR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM
A new collagen-liposomes-entrapped chondroitin sulphate composite has been prepared for use as intra-articular drug delivery system. In the presence of collagen, liposomes with encapsulated chondroitin sulphate were entrapped within the fibril network. Immunohistochemical analysis of collagen-liposomes-entrapped chondroitin sulphate porous composite showed that liposomes adhere firmly to the surface of the collagen bundles.
