SYNTHESIS OF BIODEGRADABLE DEXTRAN-g-(PCL-b-PEG) BY COMBINATION OF RING-OPENING POLYMERIZATION AND CLICK CHEMISTRY
Graft copolymers with dextran as backbone and amphiphilic PEG-b-PCL as side chains were prepared. Dextran was propargylated to form dextran-C=CH. PEG-b-PCL was synthesized by ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone using mPEG as initiator and was end-capped with azido groups to form PEG-PCL-N3. Through the click reaction between -N3 and -C=CH, the dextran backbone and the mPEG-PCL side chains were combined together via 1,2,3-triazole linkages. These polymers can self-assemble into spherical micelles with a diameter of less than 50 run, which are suitable for drug delivery research.
