SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTIES OF HYDROGELS PREPARED VIA AGET ATRP USING IRON SALT AS CATALYST
This work presents a novel approach to prepare hydrogels for controlled drug release via iron-mediated AGET ATRP using poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) or 2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) as the monomer. The polymerizations were carried out in bulk or in deionized water in the presence of a limited amount of air. Well-defined hydrogels, with controlled cross-linking density, special functional groups in the side chain of the polymers, low toxicity and good biocompatibility, were obtained.
