PREPARATION OF ARTIFICIAL FRUSTULES AND INVESTIGATION OF THE FORMATION MECHANISM

A chiral low-molecular-weight amphiphile derived from L-valine was synthesized. Sol-gel transcriptions were carried out to control mesoporous silica nanostructures using the self-assemblies of this amphiphile as template. Hollow silica shells with vertical pores on the surfaces were obtained. The porous hollow shell formation was studied by taking transmission electron microscopy images after different reaction times. The results indicated that this artificial frustule structure was formed through a structural transition.
