SYNTHESIS OF GLUCOSE-SENSITIVE BLOCK GLYCOPOLYMERS BASED ON PHENYLBORONIC ACID VIA RAFT POLYMERIZATION
A novel phenylboronic acid terminated amphiphilic glycopolymer was prepared by RAFT polymerization without any protection and deprotection procedure, and characterized by IR, 13C NMR and thermal analysis. The obtained glycopolymers comprised of a lactose-carrying block which could improve the biocompatibility of the phenylboronic acid groups and a phenylboronic acid-functionalized block which was glucose-responsive. The glycopolymers could easily self-assemble into nanoparticles (NPs) in aqueous solution. The NPs presented good glucose sensitivity, which makes them potential carries for controlled insulin delivery.
