Effect of Aspect Ratio on Flutter Characteristics of Fan/Compressor

In the present work, the blade vibration modes, distribution of displacement and natural vibration frequency were obtained using structural dynamics analysis. The unsteady aerodynamic force loading on blades and aerodynamic work were investigated using numerical analysis of 3-D unsteady flow around oscillating cascades, and the oscillating regulation was obtained by assuming the blade motion as harmonic vibration. The probability of blade flutter is predicted by using Energy Method. The flutter characteristics of linear cascades and fans with various aspect ratio are numerically analyzed respectively at the design Mach number and at design rotor speed. In this way, the influence and change rule of blade aspect ratio on flutter characteristics is initially learned. Additionally, the influence of aspect ratio on the efficiency is analyzed for fan rotors. Finally, we think that, low-aspect-ratio design rule for fan and compressor should be adopted to avoid flutter.
