Experimental Study on Friction Damping at Blade-Disk Joints

The main failure mode of blades is the high-cycle fatigue failure caused by force vibration. The design of disk assemblies needs accurate, fast and robust predictive tools for the analysis of forced vibration response levels of bladed disks under operating conditions. An experimental system is designed to measure dynamic responses of non-rotating blade, in which the same stress and strain fields can be recreated. The dynamic responses of various mode of the blade are measured under different tensile loads acting on the blade and different exciting forces. The effects of contact state at blade-disk joints on the resonant frequency and resonant response level are analyzed from the test results. The experimental results can be used to verify the theoretical and numerical results.
