The RCS Analysis of A Stealth Fighter Based on Multi-level Fast Multipole Algorithm
F-117A is the first generation of pure stealth fighter and a good example for modern military aircraft design. Great research about F-117A radar cross section (RCS) prediction based on numerical method has been done in recent years. But most of them are determined to low frequency (under L band) while the research at higher frequency (S and X band) is rare. Some reasons are the whole period and expense cannot be afforded because they rise quickly while the frequency increases. Because F-117A is designed to work at higher frequency, the research about electromagnetic characteristics of F-117A at S and X band is important. In this paper, Multi-level Fast Multipole Algorithm (MLFMA) is used, which can provide both efficiency and precision. The electromagnetic characteristics of F-117A in S band are obtained for the first time. The result can be applied to stealth design and anti-stealth research.
