Numerical Simulation and Aerodynamic Analysis of the WIG Craft Flying over Waves Based on Overset Technique
The grids around the ground effect craft and ground were modeled with several blocks and the dynamical Overset grid system was employed for this extremely complexity of the geometry. A Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes code and standard k-e model with wall function was used to describe the turbulent compressible flow field around the ground effect craft. The CFD code applied overset techniques and was based on the control volume finite difference approach. The dynamic characteristics of the wing with plate on 3-D waves were investigated respectively. The effects of wave dimension, flight velocity and flight attitude on the dynamic characteristics of WIG were given. The results indicated that the method, combining the dynamical Overset techniques, N-S code and k-emodel, can be developed as an aid to the preliminary engineering design of the ground effect craft.
