Numerical Simulation of Gust Response for UAV Airfoil
Based on unsteady Euler equations, dynamic response in vertical gust flow perturbation are investigated for the unmanned air vehicle (UAV) airfoil. The gridvelocity method has been introduced to simulate the gust influence. First, after applying this method to simulate typical NACA0006 airfoil gust response to a step change in the angle of attack, it shows that the indicial responses of the airfoil agree well with both the exact theoretical values and the calculated values in references. Furthermore, gust responses for the One-minus-cosine gust profile and gust leading a step change in the angle of attack have been analyzed for the quasi Global Hawk airfoiL It is found that the aerodynamic response of airfoil is obvious during the gust progress, and the design of gust alleviation method needs further investigation.
