Novelly Combining Discontinuous Galerkin Method with Nonuniform Time Steps Technology
In our opinion, Ref. (1)s discontinuous Galerkin method has a simple scheme and is good in calculation precision, but its slow convergence puts severe limits on its application to engineering problems. Therefore, we propose our novel solver for accelerating convergence. By this means, transonic flow over the airfoil NACA0012 is simulated. In this paper, the traditional Lagrange basis is orthogonalized, and the projection of residual on each direction attenuates in nonuniform rate. In our new solver, nonuniform CFL numbers are used for different components of the variables and residuals. Thanks to the orthonormal basis, larger CFL number can be used to accelerate the convergence rate. The result shows preliminarily that, compared with the traditional solver, our novel solver delivers a convergence rate that is approximately five times higher.
