Wavelet Filtered Regression as A Novel System Identification Method
In this paper, a new method of the system identification to acquire flight characteristic of aircraft is proposed. The goal of this study is to expand the usage of flight characteristic of aircraft acquired by system identification, such as in safety mechanisms of defective aircraft. In order to do so, time-frequency information provided by wavelet transform and special filtering are introduced. This will enhance the robustness against disturbances than conventional methods. To evaluate the proposed method, a small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is utilized. Small UAVs are more easily disturbed by wind gust than general aircraft. The effectiveness of the proposed method is highlighted by the success in acuiring flight characteristic of the small UAV.
