Faults Analysis and Solving Methods in Ground Operation of A Micro Turbojet Engine

Based on series of ground operations of a new designed micro turbojet engine, this paper presents these contents of the engine structure, process of test rig setting up, configurations of measuring system, confirmation of engine running plan, and puts the stress on analyzing reasons of all the faulting phenomena met in engine operations, finding their solving methods and giving corresponding effects. These phenomena include ignition reliability, tail flame, speed hang-up, rubbing faults between rotor and stator, cracking of welding seams of wing fenders for the exhaust nozzle, the turbine bearing failure because of thermal instability, creep of compressor blades, engine surge, debugging of electronic-control programs. All of the contents stated in this paper came from practices. The ground operation results show that reducing thermal load of the bearing in the side of turbine, advancing mechanical characteristics of the material for compressor impeller, and promoting manufacturing level are the main missions to be done so far in the design of micro turbojet engine, and other faults stated in the paper can be overcome by appropriate methods. For this micro turbojet engine, the problems have been solved and those need to be solved all have been generalized into experiences. These conclusions and experiences are references for design, ground operation, faults diagnosis of other series of micro turbojet engines in the future, also are preparations for airworthiness assessments.
