Study on Atmospheric Corrosion of 7B04 Aluminum Alloy in Seashore Area
Outdoor exposure tests for atmospheric corrosion of 7B04 aluminum alloy are carried out in Qingdao and Hainan. Corroded samples are investigated by mass loss, SEM, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that in the initial stage pitting corrosion emerges on the surface of 7B04 aluminum alloy in Qingdao and Hainan, and general corrosion occurs later. Both the corrosion rates in Qingdao and Hainan change from high to low, and the mass losses follow w=atb (b<1), but the corrosion rate of 7B04 aluminum alloy in Hainan is faster than that in Qingdao. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) reveals that when corrosion product is adequately thick, the electrode process of atmospheric corrosion in marine is controlled by diffusion of corrosive ions from corrosion product layer to the metal/oxide film interface.
