Parametric Analysis for Intercooled Recuperated Turbofan Engines

This paper aims at delivering a good insight into Intercooled Recuperative Engine Cycle through parametric analysis. Firstly, a numerical simulation model is created for an intercooled recuperated trispool turbofan engine with split exhaust. Secondly, aided by this model, couple relationships are analyzed between the IRA engine design parameters, heat exchanger design parameters, engine performance, and heat exchanger weight. Results show that:①The optimal overall pressure ratio for inter-cooled recuperated cycle engine decreases with the increase of heat exchanger efficiency; ②Design aspects such as the mass flow ratio, the pressure ratio split between intermediate and high pressure compressor are found to greatly affect the perform-ance of the proposed IRA engine ?The higher the effectiveness of the recuperator effectiveness, the lower the SPC and the optimum OPR is also lower. However, the weight penalty increased dramatically.
