Design Considerations of RBCC-powered Vehicle
RBCC has recentlyreceived increased attention for the next generation reusable launch vehicles and hypersonic cruise vehicles. System design of RBCC-powered vehicle is carried out in Northwestern Polytechnical University, accompanied with experimental investigation. Both system requirements evaluation and performance analysis model is established, adopted by the system design and optimization program. Combustion management techniques for high combustion efficiency and engine performance is studied on the direct connect test facility, under the consideration of fuel injection, variable geometry, and thermal choke control. Mode transition is investigated with both analytical and experimental means, concluding several key techniques. Detailed design considerations of RBCCpowered vehicle is discussed, proposing the further development steps for RBCC.
