Simulation Study of An Original Membrane-based Dehumidification Aircraft Environmental Control System

An original aircraft environmental control system (ECS) is proposed using membrane-based highpressure air dehumidification package. A detail analysis on the material and structure of the membrane dehumidifier is made and its physical and mathematic model are set up, meanwhile, the mathematical models of other key components of the new system are set up according to the working principle. Based on it, performance simulation of this new type of aircraft ECS is carried out with module structure models using software Matlab/ Simulink, and its performances are compared with conventional two-wheel high-pressure dewater ECS. The simulation results show that the application of membrane dehumidification in aircraft ECS is theoretically feasible and it has obvious advantages on system structure, performance and weight. Thus, it is worthy of carrying out further system experimental research to lay a good foundation for application of this new type of membrane-based air dehumidification environmental control system(MADECS) to aircraft actually.
