Formation Pressure Prediction Based on Hybrid Genetic Algorithm

By analyzing methods for predicting formation pressure using seismic interval velocity, a formation pressure prediction approach based on hybrid genetic algorithm is proposed. It first calculates bulk density with seismic interval velocity, and then calculates rock matrix density and porosity by using hybrid genetic algorithm, and finally predicts the formation pressure by using Fillippones formulation. Practical application of the approach shows that it is feasible in prediction of abnormal formation pressure of sandstone and shale caused by undercompaction. Compared with traditional formation pressure prediction methods, the approach does not require establishing normal compaction trend line and has better adaptability and higher accuracy of predictions.
