Science Education for the People of India: Public Library Venture
The Public library is a powerful and dynamic institution for citizens. It plays a major role in the advancement for the society. Present day public libraries are logical education to common men. How to raise awareness on science and technology, and how the public feels and knows about science in general, and specific subjects, are important lines of research in this area. There are various means for popularizing sciences among masses. This paper concentrates exclusively on some basic issues like environment ( place where people live); agriculture (most common means of livelihood); health(well-being of common men) and population(he/she and his/her future). It further identifies problems associated with these basic issues and suggests remedies for the same. It highlights various means of awareness to be adopted in this regard. It also discusses the role of Government as well as staff in this connection.
