Argentine System of Public Libraries of Private Management

On one hand, make knowledge and the information for all the members of a community approachable in order to contribute with the individual development of people and, on the other hand, with the social, cultural and economic development of the society in which it is, that is why public libraries exist and their last and final purpose. Mostly around the world, running a public library and the necessary economical means for their functioning are provided by the Estate and in some other cases they are common citizens who join together in non-governmental organizations(NGO) Franklin Society in San Juan is one of these non-governmental organizations, the oldest in South America. This presentation has a brief study of the system of public libraries of private administration in Argentina, it show which are the advantages and which the disadvantages of the system, proposing possible solutions to overcome them. It studies the evolvement of these kind of libraries have lived in our country from an historical and social point of view take as an example of this the evolution of the Society Franklin in the community of San Juan from its foundation in 1866 up to now. Finally try to anticipate how the quick and amazing advances of the information technologies are going to impact in the aspects of the organization and in providing services of the public libraries.
