Public Risk Perception and Willingness to Pay towards Emergency Environmental Pollution A case study in Nanjing Chemical Industry Park

Based on psychological measurement paradigm, this paper studied the characteristics of public risk perception towards emergency environmental pollution, and drew out the risk paradigmatic map. Survey results from Nanjing Chemical Industry Park showed that the public thought emergency water and air pollution had serious impacts on human health and life. It also indicated that there were some specific factors affecting the risk perception of emergency environmental pollutions among different groups of people, including the educational level, the occupation, the distance from the risk source, and whether who suffered a risk accident or not. In addition, it showed that interviewees had an average willingness to pay 292 Yuan/month towards emergency environmental pollutions in CIP.
