The Evaluation and Comparison of Effectiveness of Cognitive and Behavioral Technique Based Interventions for Burnout and Psychological Well-being
Many employees suffer from burnout, overstrain and other psychological, often work-related complaints, which endanger their work ability and also inflict huge costs for companies. In order, to control those risks for individuals and organizations, cognitive-behaviorally oriented interventions were developed. This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of Cognitive-behavioral Technique (CBT) on decreasing burnout complains, and improvement in psychological well-being. Also this study would compare two different kinds of CBT interventions----the conventional face-to-face intervention and computer-assisted intervention. 398 employees were allocated to three groups voluntarily: 150 employees for face-to-face group, 156 for self-help group and 92 for control group. Burnout and psychological well-being were measured before and after interventions The results showed that CBT-based interventions were effective on decreasing burnout complaints and improving psychological well-beings; and self-help interventions was more effective or at least similarly effective in reducing the burnout complaints and improving psychological well-beings, compared to conventional face-to-face intervention, especially for professional efficacy.
