The Willingness to Pay for Farmland External Benefit and Its Influence Factors

摘要：

Farmland external benefit evaluation provides the basis for economic compensation for farmland protection. The study uses contingent valuation method to assess farmland external benefit by survey on the urban and rural residents in Yichang City. The mean of willingness to pay per year is RMB 1553 yuan per hectare on farmland external benefit, and the median is RMB 1256 yuan per hectare. Whether citizens are willing to pay is significantly affected by age, educational level, family size, family income, and the degree of willingness to pay is influenced by cognition of necessity of farmland protection and the gender. Whether famers are willing to pay is significantly influenced by cognition of necessity of farmland protection, educational level, the main source of family income, and the degree of willingness to pay is determined by the understanding of the importance of farmland external benefit and family income. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda, develop education and economic in order to promote public approve and support farmland protection.
