Estimating Travel Time for Car Stream on a Bus Stop in China
In many Chinese cities, traffic streams near bus stops are different from those in developed countries. There are usually two lanes at bus stops in China: one is the non-motor lane and the other is the motor lane. Bus stops are often located on the non-motor lanes. This paper proposes travel time model for car stream under mixed traffic condition near a bus stop. Based on the BPR function under single motored-vehicles flow conditions, the travel time function near a bus stop under mixed traffic condition is established. Travel time for car stream near the stop under mixed traffic condition is the function of three types of traffic streams with buses, cars and bicycles. Model parameters can be calibrated by using the SPSS statistics software as the model can be transformed to a liner regression model. The proposed model is validated using the field data in Beijing. The results indicate that the proposed model is suitable to estimate link travel time near a bus stop in China.
