An Empirical Study of Employers Job Vacancy Distribution Characteristic and Its Decisive Factors

To discuss the distributing characteristics and determinants of job vacancies, the thesis mostly makes best of the more mature modern computational research model of scholars abroad to analyze the data of China, further discuss the estimated outcomes and try to find out similarities and differences among the distributing characteristics and determinants of job vacancies at home and abroad. Using the labor demand research data got by the subject group the Testing Survey on the employment and unemployment in China investigating 373 employers in Beijing, in autumn, 2005, the thesis analyzes the distributing characteristics and determinants of job vacancies. The datas statistical descriptions and regression estimate show the following results: 1) the 77.64% of employers have labor demand, and the available vacancies of these sample units accounts for 93.29% of the total available jobs. Though there are a great number of small businesses, their employment intake capacities are not strong. The larger the enterprises, the more staff they employ. 2) Characteristics of enterprises, agencies and industries together impact on job vacancy incidence and job vacancy rates. 3) The research data over government organs, public institutions, enterprises prove that most of public institutions shall hire new staff every year, but enterprises have the least willingness to hire new employees. However, the data of Beijing show that ratio of agencies having labor demands far bigger than the survey data of the USA, the UK, and Canada. 4) There is a positive correlation between the hiring scale and job vacancy incidence, while there is a negative correlation between the qualification vacancy rate and the hiring scale. 5) The higher the labor turnover rate in agencies, the higher the job vacancy incidences and the vacancy rates are. 6) The 98.39% of institutions with prospects have labor needs, and 39.53% of agencies declining say they will hire new staff. 7) After decomposing the Theil Index which reflects the gaps among vacancy rates, the differences among vacancy rates of different agencies are mainly from the inner causes of various groups, and the intergroup reasons are not main ones.
