The Empirical Analysis of Income Gap among Governmental Officials in Different Regions and Its Influencing Factors
The income distribution of governmental officials is an important part of distributions in society; it not only plays a guiding and exemplary role to the whole society, but also affects administrative efficiency of public sectors. This study first analyzes the income gap between governmental officials in different regions with the method of Theil index decomposition, and proposes that the income gap among provincial regions is greater than that of inter-provincial regions. Besides, we apply multiple regression method to analyze the factors which affect regional income disparity for governmental officials. Based on the above, we draw the conclusion that governmental officials compensations are mainly determined by occupation classification, local GDP per capita, the level of social average wage and fiscal revenues.
