Experimental Research on the Factors Influencing the Chip Quality of Caragana
Desert shrub-caragana is an excellent sand-fixation plant, and its branches can be used to produce biomass briquettes. Caragana is difficult to cut off for high toughness, and thus becomes a bottleneck which restricts production of biomass briquettes. Experiments and models were made based three factors including cutting rotation speed, cutting gap and moisture content in this paper. The result showed that cutting rotation speed and moisture content had the significant effect on the quality of shrub caragana chip but the cutting gap was little. And the affecting order of the three factors to the quality of caragana chip was the cutting rotation speed, moisture content and cutting gap separately. Thirdly, cutting rotation speed should be above 957rpm, cutting gap was between 1 and 2mm, and moisture content of shrub should be about 16% when dried at room temperature for more than a month after collection, which were the reasonable cutting parameters for caragana. Then grey forecast model was established to estimate chip quality with the maximal error of -2.28% and accuracy grade of 2.
