The Changes in Total Factor Productivity of the Chinese Railway Transportation Industry
The changes in total factor productivity of the Chinese railway transportation industry are analyzed with the method of data envelope analysis based on the panel data of 14 railway bureaus in China from 2000 to 2007. It is calculated that the total factor productivity of the railway industry was increasing at an average annual rate of 5.8% during that period. The growth in total factor productivity of the railway industry was mainly due to the introduction of some new technologies.
