The Empirical Study on the Environmental Impact of Two Typical Trade Growth Pattern: Comparison Based on 1992-2008 Emissions Data of Zhejiang and Guangdong Provinces
Under the situation of exhaust emissions as an index, this paper verifies the diverse effects deriving from different trade patterns to environmental pollution through the empirical model and then compares the relationship between export and environment pollution under export-oriented and endogenous-type patterns, typically in Guangdong and Zhejiang respectively. As can be seen from the impulse response results, the impact on the environment from export in Guangdong Province is relatively larger. However, the growth in exports in Zhejiang Province has no significant effect on the environment, and changes little in the long term. The results show that environment pollution is more sensitive to export under export-oriented mode, but in the endogenous-type mode, this relationship is relatively weak. In terms of Zhejiang, environmental pollution mainly comes from small and medium private enterprises and other non-export industries, has less influence by the export. Therefore, Guangdong should make efforts to prevent the transfer of environmental costs, and Zhejiang is required further efforts to increase environmental protection.
