Confidence Intervals for Process Capability Indices under Auto-correlated Data
The process capability indices for process capability evaluation are random variables based on sample observations, so statistical inference is needed. When the process is auto-correlated, statistical inference for process capability indices are taken into consideration. When the observations are auto-correlated. Confidence intervals for auto-correlated process capability indices are proposed in this paper. We study the effect of auto-correlation on confidence intervals for process capability indices from theory and simulation. Results show that the capability indices are larger and upward under positive auto-correlated data, small and downward under negative auto-correlated data. This paper analyzes factors of influence and gives a calculation method of confidence intervals for process capability indices under auto-correlated data. Results of simulation show that the method proposed by us can reflect the actual production capacity well; it is worth promoting, and takes an example to demonstrate this method.
