Pro/ E based Model Reconstruction for Nose Cone of EMUs

As the important component of the high-speed train, nose cone affects the appearance of the bodywork, but also has impacts on the aerodynamic performance of a train directly. Based on Pro/E 3.0, authors proposed a shortcut to reconstruct nose cone surface model by applying the reverse module,Pro/SCANTOOLS. Taking a nose cone part of EMUs (Electric Multiple Units) as a case study, first authors transform original ProductView file into IGES format file, then extract geometry reference data from IGES file by using Pro/SCANTOOLS, and after that use these data information to do forward parametric modeling through profile curve reconstruction, quality analysis for curve, surface reconstruction, surface evaluation and modification, entity modeling as well. The quality of reconstructed surface is analyzed and evaluated by coordinating Pro/E with Image ware. The method proposed above provides a fast solution of model reconstruction for original parts model in Product View format file. The model can be modified easily for latter requirement, which is helpful to support the further design improvement and product innovation.
