Capability of Product Architecture: Turning the Product Architecture from Static Status into Dynamic Evolution
Product architecture provides the static reflection of the present product and the result of the historical evolution. Facing the market competition, the condition of the product architecture is changing continually. And achieving this change needs the help of capability of product architecture. This study presents the concept of capability of product architecture, and builds a concept model of the capability of product architecture. With concrete examples and inductive analysis, we get three dimensions of Capability of Product architecture, i.e. Capacity by Established, Capacity by Transmitted, and Capacity by Incorporated. The capability of product architecture embodied in three aspects, that is the creation of new product features and specifications, conversion products form and integrated related products, and turns the product architecture from static status into dynamic evolution. The capability of product architecture extended and deepened the theory of product innovation has implications to the introduction of new business model.
