Study on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Knowledge Creation of Academic Entrepreneurs in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone
Academia plays a important role in regional economic development through Innovation and entrepreneurship. Based on the literature review, this study put forward the hypotheses of relationship among patent creation, start-up creation, paper publication, professorship and research filed. Then the conceptual framework model was established. The study identified the key factors fostering academic innovation and entrepreneurial willingness by a large-scale quantitative survey. The questionnaire was sent to the population of AEs in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone. Based on the key constructs derived form prior research, the study used Correlation Analysis and ANOVA to analyze the key influential factors of academic innovation and entrepreneurship. The results of the Correlation Analysis were used to verify the relations of specific variables. The results of the study were that the relationship of patent creation and start-up creation is positive for AEs; the relationship of paper publication and patent creation is positive for AEs; the Full professor AEs outperform other positions of AEs in paper publication, patent creation; and the engineering AEs outperform other fields of AEs in patent creation.
