Innovating College English Teaching Model under the Credit Hour System
The credit hour managing model provides a chance for the new turn of college English teaching reform. Trying to solve the problem of time costing and low effects and raise the students practical ability to use English, we implement graded teaching by referring to the concept of ―classified requirement and teaching in accordance with the students‘ aptitudes‖. Under the guide of College English Curriculum Requirements issued by the Ministry of Education we build series of elective courses to enable the students arrange their learning according to their own individual interests, ability and purpose. The reform also urges the teachers to apply modern teaching ideas and information technology into their teaching, and teaching quality has been greatly improved. The questionnaire shows that more than 70% of the students can adapt to the graded teaching. The elective courses are warmly welcome, and more than 90% of the students evaluate A to these courses.
