Fuzzy Optimization Model of Containers Stocking in a Transshipment Port Yard
An optimization model for container stocking in the storage yard in a transshipment port based on fuzzy programming is built to improve its efficiency. The objective function is to minimize the number of yard cranes used in the storage yard during the planning period. The decisions variables included the number of export/transit containers assigned to a sub-block, yard cranes used and sub-blocks with high or low workload. The fuzzy model is transferred to a integer programming model. The constraints include meeting the shipping requirement, storage capacity and operational capacity of yard cranes. In the model, the shipping requirement is fuzzy. A numerical example is given and solved by Lingo. The simulation is done to the workload of sub-blocks to recover the relation between workload and the number of yard crane used. The model can be used to yard stocking management and lift its level.
