A method for multi-attribute decision making problem with incomplete information based on the D-S theory
A new decision making approach based on the evidential reasoning method is proposed for multi-attribute decision making problem with incomplete information. The approach first defines the basic probability assignment function (BPA) according to the assessment information, and then the BPA values are integrated into a comprehensive one through D-S rule of combination. In the process of combination, the alternatives are made into the same belief structure by unifying the uncertainty of each alternative which modify and extend the original D-S method. Finally, the assessment grades and their belief degrees are translated into utility to rank the alternatives. An example of National Science Funding project assessment is examined to demonstrate the approach is pragmatic and valid.
