An Improved Adaptive Time-Threshold-Based Queuing Scheme for Cellular Multimedia Networks
This paper proposes an Improved Adaptive TimeThreshold-based Queuing bandwidth allocation scheme for Multimedia services (IATTQM) in cellular networks. Because future data service will occupy a large portion of all services in next generation mobile networks and forced termination of an ongoing call is clearly less desirable than blocking of a new call attempt, there is much significance in improving non-prioritized handoff data call dropping probability of Finite Queuing Adaptive TimeThreshold-based bandwidth allocation Scheme for Multimedia services (FQATTSM) further. The proposed scheme modifies priority definition and bandwidth allocation of FQATTSM and then, designs a fixed probabilistic priority policy for QoS guarantee of voice service. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme enormously improves performance of non-prioritized handoff data dropping probability at the cost of some increasing the average queuing delays of non-prioritized handoff data calls while keeping high total bandwidth utilization compared with FQATTSM. Because data service has non-time sensitive character and the increment is rather limited, the average queuing delay for nonprioritized handoff data calls can still satisfy QoS requirement of data service.
