A Study on the NOx Purifying Effects of Integrated Pt-Rh Cordierite Catalytic Converter for Gasoline Engine Exhaust
The functional evaluation of catalytic converter conducted by engine bench test is considered as one of the key techniques in the research and exploitation of catalytic converter. The integrated cordierite catalytic converter, modified from the precious metal Pt-Rh, was produced by the author with help of maceration. It has been applied in the engine bench experiment to purify exhaust under the condition of various rotational speeds of carburetormode small petrol engine. It has been proved in the experiment that integrated cordierite catalytic converter performs best when the ratio of Rh to Pt is 0.25. Moreover, the NO, purifying capacity of the catalytic converter has been extremely strengthened; Meanwhile, the NO, transforming rate temperature window has also been highly widened;Whats more, the three major pollutants in the petrol engine exhaust NO,, CO and HC can be simultaneously purified. In conclusion, promising future can be predicted in the application of this kind of catalytic converter in the exhaust purification of carburetor-mode small petrol engine.
