Protection Scheme for Inductive Components in Intrinsically Safe Instrument

Inductive components in intrinsically safe instruments have the ability to ignite flammable gas for its energy storage characteristics. Analyzed the way for diode connected in parallel with the inductance to release the energy storing in the inductance, established the equivalent inductor mathematical model with the linear attenuation model of inductive intrinsically safe circuit, the simulation and error analysis were carried out. Simulation and experimental data have demonstrated that the diode could suppress the arc generation. Value of the equivalent inductance is independent with the original when the diode parameter is ideal.
