Design and Implement an Interconnected VPN system for Campuses in Multiple Geographical Locations

This paper presents a novel design and implementation of a VPN management system. A central point of control is created to schedule and provision access to not just one but multiple VPN servers that are gatekeepers for campus remote laboratories of institutions from different geographical locations. After VPN tunnels are created, users are able to control and operate on both PC and non-PC components of the lab through the internet. The presented system provides a complete student lab access solution. Students are able to use the lab anytime from anywhere there is an internet connection. Lab resources of all the participating institutions are consolidated into one larger resource pool; therefore the efficiency of lab resources being utilized is greatly improved. The same equipment consolidation concept can be extended into various STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, resulting in a broad impact on STEM education.
