An Integrated Framework for Knowledge Management in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
A knowledge-based economy is emerging. Knowledge management (KM) is being rapidly disseminated in academic circles, as well as in the business world. Despite the wide implementation of KM in the larger organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are comparatively under-researched. This paper focuses on KM implementaion within SMEs. Looking beyond KM initatives or processes, it provides an intergrated framework for SMEs to implement KM, which includes: (1) Identifying informal KM within SMEs; (2) Success key factors for KM; (3) A goal-constructing programme for KM; (4) Evaluating organizational performance. The framework proposed in this paper is generic in nature and is applicable to benefit any SMEs.
